This waterline kit of a charming, steam powered vessel is supplied with a solid resin hull & attached bulwarks. Kit includes laser cut wood superstructures and deck furniture. Includes hand molded machinable and paintable quality resin and pewter castings. Many have been specifically designed for this kit.
This kit is designed to give the modeler the best advantage in building and finishing a terrific model. All the original patterns were made in our shop with reference to the details of several prototypes and much research in books, museums, photographs and conversations with master modelers.
Our Craftsman kits are freelance designs that incorporate features from some prototype vessels. No model shipbuilding skills are required for our kits. Kits include all partsnecessary for assembly, as shown in the photos unless noted as well as detailed drawings, instruction sheets and finishing instructions.
Our inspiration to craft this model was a photo that a friend shared with us. We
immediately fell in love with the Lannan. She was built by the James Clark & Co in the
Baltimore MD area. Her engines are of the compound type, 6-1/2” + 13” in diameter of cylinders, with common pistons-stroke of 9”. Award boilers were used. She was put into police service in 1891 and worked the waters of MD. She retired in 1928 after accumulating an estimate mileage equal to eight times the distance around the earth. She continued her carrier working the east coast waters in various capacity until she was broken up for her metal in 1948. There is extensive additional information regarding the Lannan on line.
This kit can also be built as a Classic Yacht/Cruiser, Passenger Transport or Pilot Boat.
