Description
Extension kit 696-10502 HO Great Lakes Freighter – Mid Section extension kit “ONLY” adds 72 scale ft., 10″ in HO scale. This mid section extension kit is used on the “Great Lakes Freighter” kit 696-10501. The 696-10501 is the kit made for Walthers with the larger hatch openings. This extension kit cannot be used on the “Great Lakes Freighter” kit HO-1050.
Mid section includes cargo hatches, etched brass stanchions, and line for railings. Two mid sections may be added to the basic kit, and still be prototypical to some stretched boats.
After the St. Lawrence Seaway opened in 1959, many “canallers” were stretched to increase their length to add cargo capacity.
Please note, this kit contains only parts for mid section, and does not build into a complete boat on its own.
